LIGHT & SHADOW team survives perilous mudslide
On June 3rd 2007 as Christian Baumeister and Yann Sochaczewski slept in the pristine wilderness of Kamchatka, a sudden mudslide flooded the great Geyser Valley, stopping just meters from the filmmakers’ cabin. Geyser Valley, known as the “pearl” of Kamchatka, with over 90 geysers and a fantastic collage of thermal springs, has been the region’s most popular tourist attraction. Scientists mourn the loss of this natural treasure, though it may manage to recover partially and reopen to tourism. Christian and Yann were the last to film the valley before its violent transformation.
